Uromastyx lizards and Water

22 14:24:52

Question
My Uromastyx lizard LOVES to sit in the small pool of water I have set in his aquarium, but my cousin, who has more experience with lizards, told me that this is not good for him.  Could the water make him sick?  Should I remove the pool from his aquarium?

Thanks for your help!

Answer
Hi Paula, water in a Uromastyx cage is a very controversial subject. Some people say you should never provide your Uro water because they get all the water they need from their food. Others say that it is cruel to not give them water and the water from their food is not enough. People keep their Uromastyx based on this and neither party has seen a problem with it.

Your problem however would be fungus, the Uromastyx has to be allowed to completely dry off with no moisture or skin conditions can appear.
