Question
So we have had our frogs for about a month...we watched them mating tonight. We think thats what they were doing. So I know the female has unfertile eggs. So if the male was to make these eggs become fertile, how long does it take before they hatch and we have babies? Also, will we see the eggs. Thank You.

Answer
Jessica,                                                     It is kinda hard to sex these guy. Your males have a rougher back and have black nuptial pads on their fingers and forearms. They don't usually breed til the spring. If they are just laying on each other that is normal, but if he is grasping her with his forearms that is different. If she is ready to breed she will swim around him on her back.... he also will croak at night. She will attach her eggs to plants or the rocks that are available to her. She can produce up to 200 eggs. You need to move the eggs to another enclosure. They will hatch in about 3 days. They will stay in their egg, but eat the yolk sac for about 2 more days. They will eat ground up fish food, but better would be brine shrimp for about 3 weeks. They can not be moved into the regular enclosure until they are too big to be eaten. The rule with froggies is if you fit in my mouth I will eat you. They may not have been mating they like to lay on top of each other , but if they did.... at this time of year I doubt it.... Just remove them and Good Luck,Tina
