QuestionHi There!
I bought a Chinese Water Dragon for my son and he has been doing an excellent job tending to it. I actually have been researching a lot and helping him. I can not get the water dragon to eat vegetables. When we bought the water dragon I was told to give it crickets powdered in calcium and also waxed worms. As I read I can see it needs more then that. Which is not an issue except for the prey. I will not be in the room for that.
My question to you is the dragon we have had now for a month. It has not shedded yet and has now changed to a brown color. What is going on. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal. He's active and loves to eat. The only issue I have is he runs in the cage and hits the glass. My husband is in the process of making him a new home so we have no issues. We may need to pad is walls. LOL!!
Can you please give a newbie some advice!?
Thanks!

Answer A water dragon should stay a bright green. I would make sure his lighting is optimum. Not only heat but UVB as well. Water dragons require good UVB, In fact, the larger the home the more I would recommend a good mercury vapor light like the Westron Megaray. Also check his poop, is it really stinky? He may need a vet visit to check for parasites that may be giving a lttle tummy trouble. Have a paving stone or log wrapped in sisal. If he's having a prob;em starting a shed, these will allow him a nice rub to start it off.
