Question

skinny gecko
PLS Help.. I asked this same question over three days ago with no response from another expert.. I really need your help.

I am a gecko newby.I rescued this little guy from a cage with a huge gecko in it which apparently ate all the food. I am a caregiver to the grandma living in the house and would give them water when I was there (4xs a week). I watched him slowly shrink, they were left in a room to fend for themselves and weren't fed very often. I came in the room today (three days ago now# to find the big one had clamped its mouth down hard across the little ones mid section, it appears his leg is broke or hurt badly and he is very emaciated.

I took a trip to the pet store to get the needed supplies and food to attempt to save him. The pet store owner seemed to think he should recover well with some TLC.. He can walk but is not very fast due to the leg injury #he pulls the leg along) so I purchased mealworms as opposed to crickets. I dusted them with the calcium powder and he ate two right away. What can I feed this little guy to fatten him up quick.

He ate an additional 5 meal worms that evening but now three days later nothing. He has started to shed. I provided him a moist bowl filled with peatmoss and that is where we find him.

What can I feed him to fatten him up quick? I will up load a pic that I took of him in his old environment

Answer
OK so you need to set the gecko properly first of all get him into a 10 Gallon enclosure with washed playsand available at most home improvement stores.  Get him a basking spot of at least 85 degrees on one side of th enclosure.  The ambient temp should be about 75 degrees.  He will need a hide box of some kind as well.  Wax worms will fatten him fairly quickly.  Fresh water daily is also needed.  I am not sure if yo got my earlier reply but there is a Leopard Gecko Article on my site www.reptileapartment.com which should help you as well.  I hope the gecko will recover but I can not guarantee it.  I would also make an appointment with a local reptile vet if at all possible.  I hope this helps and any further questions please don't hesitate to email me directly either through my site or through here as well.
