my beardie bites me

Question
I purchased a baby beardie a month ago.  All the information I read said to not try to handle them until they were 8 weeks old.  So I had him for a couple of weeks and have been trying to handle him ever since.  He is now 11 weeks old.  When I put my hand in the habitat he backs up, opens his mouth, hisses at me and will eventually bite me.  It does not hurt but he runs around like he is afraid of me.  I have read that you need to put your hand/arm in the habitat for the beardie to get used to you.  I have been doing this for like 15 min. to 1/2 hour at a time and he still will not come near me, when I get near him I get the aforementioned behavior.  I am really frustrated but I also do not want to get rid of him.  Please help!

Answer
Hey Pam,

this is normal behavior from a juvinile, but can be delt with fairly easy.a couple hours after feeding start taking him /her out of the tank and handle him/her two to three times a day.try to stay in one spot (no walking around with him/her yet)if he/she starts to get to wriggly to hold on to dont panic stay calm and turn your hand around so the beardie's laying on his back in your hand and gently stroke the belly and throat, after he/she calms down you can right him/her again.stay consistant and your beardie will be like my wilson ,calm and laid back. well i hope this was helpful keep me posted and let me know how you are making out.

     thanks for the ?
