Gargoyle gecko eggs

Question
Hi, this is my first time owning a reptile. I purchased my female gargoyle gecko about 2 months ago. Last night, she laid 2 eggs in her food dish! Do they lay eggs without mating? Or could she have been bred before I purchased her? If they are fertile, what do I do next? Thanks for the help, I've only ever had horses and fish and am at a total loss of what to do next. -Chelsea

Answer
Chelsea, first off I would say CONGRATULATIONS! This actually means that you're keeping the gecko in the optimum conditions. That said, I would venture to say that they are indeed unfertile also known as 'slugs' and this is not a common occurrence but does happen from time to time . If you think they are fertile I would actually incubate them in an incubation medium such as sand, vermiculite, or something similar. Temperatures for incubation are between 70-74 degrees F.
