my beardie is coughing

for about a week my bearded dragon Riddick has been making a wierd cough-like sound, i have asked around, some say to take him to a vet others say its fine tht it is seasonal.  this did happen one time before and i took him to a vet that tends to exotic animals, well $450 later we had xrays, a needle to his leg and were given a script for some antibiotics.  as much as i would love to do that again the cost will be out of my means.  would you have any at home remedies i might be able to try?  please advise, thank you.  sincerely, gina

What are the temps in the tank, & what type of thermometer are you using to measure them with?
A coughing or wheezing noise can indicate a respiratory infection.  What is the humidity in the tank?
What in the world did they do to him that cost you that much?  The x-rays are expensive, but did they do any bloodwork or a fecal on him?
What type & brand of UVB light are you using, is it a flourescent tube bulb or a compact or coil light?  What about the basking light, is it a bright white light or a colored light?
What antibiotics is he on?  What was the concentration of the meds & what was his dosage?  How much does he weigh?
There are some things that can be done at home.  Keep his tank dry, with humidity under 30%, & try to keep the tank warmer over night.  Not hot, but around 75 at least to help his immune system.  
I will wait to hear more from you then we can go over some more things.
