Question
My beardie is about 5 months old - recently she has been spending A LOT of time under her log & not getting enough sun/heat light. I was told she may be trying to lay eggs - she's also been digging a lot. Is she too young, or do I need to do something to help her??

Answer
OK, the hiding could be from several reasons. First could be from the type of lighting.  Using compact or coil UVB is dangerous to a beardies eyes, they would hide from that.  Temperature.  If you are using a stick on thermometer, it can be off as much as 30 degrees either way.  She may be hiding simply because it's too warm.  Last, what has your weather been like?  If you are in a region where you have beem experiencing severe weather, it doesn't matter if she can't see outside, the pressure changes will make her react naturally.
Digging is not just something gravid females do.  All beardies enjoy a good dig.  And it's good exercise.  The increased digging may be due to her entering puberty and she is getting those raging hormones.
