Question
Hello, I am considering a group of corn snakes as pets but was wondering if they could all be housed in the same cage? How many adults can be housed in a 33 gallon(3 foot long)? how many hatchlings can be housed in  that tank?

How offen should hatchlings be fed & how offen should adults be fed? Also when I remove there dinner from the freezer how do I thaw it? Will they eat something that doesnt move? if not would those long feeding tongs works for offering the prey to them?

How hot should the hot side of the tank be and how cold should the cold side be?

Will a heat lamp with a night time heat bulb be ok for heating during the day & night?

How offen can a htachling be handled? what about an adult?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Answer
I have no experience with hatchlings, as I don't breed. However, I can answer your questions regarding adults.

I wouldn't put more than 2 adults in a 3 gallon.

Adults should be fed once a week.
Mice can be thawed a couple of ways...Leave it at room temperature for several hours until soft, or put it in a glass of hot water for about a minute. Most corns will accept frozens at birth...If you do try live though, they might not switch back to frozen. Feeding tongs would work for offereing live mice, but they really arent necessary...you can just dump the mouse in there.

Undertank heaters are your best bet for heating. Put one under one end of the tank, and if it is one meant for reptiles (like an exoterra) it will give u a good temp at each end. They can be left on 24/7, and are very low maintinence, and high in value, unlike lights which have to be constantly replaced(one bulb will cost you about $10, or half the price of an undertank heater.)

However, heat lamps can be used, and it is not necessary to have one at night, as long as cage temp doesnt fall below about 70. Make sure one end of the cage is in the high 80s-low 90s, and the rest of the cage shouldnt be below 85.

I dont know how often hatchlings should be handled, but adults can be handled as often as you like, except for a few days after feedings.(Wait until it passes it...)

Hope this helps, if you have any further questions feel free to ask.
