Question
I found a snake this afternoon in my garage.  It looks like a baby.  It is a approximately the length and width of a pencil.  It has a pale grey skin with very evenly placed brown markings outlined with black.  These markings are all along the length of its body and underneath are black line type markings.  What could this be.  I live in ny in oswego couny.  I am in the country on a state route.  I have pictures of it if that would help.  Thank you so much.

Answer
To: Miranda Myers,

I found what snake it is...I think it a baby eastern hog nose snake. What interesting that the baby kingsnake look just like Hog Nose Snake. These two different snake do look alike with same patterns with the white bands around the body. It actually a Hog Nose Snake.. I have been checking up on the piture and reading where about they actually live.  You do have four same alike snake that are different species of the color pattern of the body. 1. Eastern Kingsnake, 2. Eastern Hog Nose Snake, 3. Eastern Water Snake, 4. Eastern Long Nose Snake. All of these snakes are all have same color of white bands around the body. It's hard to figure out which is which. But for sure it a Eastern Hog Nose Snake.

Well, I hope this helps.. If there any other question you would like to ask me about. Please contact me anytime.

          Take Care & good luck
