Question
hey Tracie my name is Sarah and, i just got a new yellow plated lizard.  i already have one which i thought was a male, but my new lizard is much bigger. i know the sex is determined by fringes, but because I've never seen them i don't know what to look for.  i would hate danger my pets by putting two males in a home together.  please help me!

Answer
Hello Sarah,

Oh please post a picture of your yellow plated lizard.  They are so pretty.
How old are they?  If you can post some pictures of them, I can help you out.  The femoral pores or fringes will be located on the inner legs, & will be very evident as they get older.
If you are unsure of the sex, it would be better to house them separately for awhile, to be sure.  You don't want any injuries or for them to mate too young, if you have a male & a female.
