Leopard Gecko, leg broken?

Question
QUESTION: I just got a gecko about 3 months ago, and I just noticed that one of his back legs isn't working properly. And although he tried to use it, it seems to bend at an odd angle and he isn't successful. I read numerous places that it could be a calcium deficiency and I went and got him some calcium powder to dust on his meals. Is there anything else I can do, or should I just wait and see if this takes effect?

ANSWER: Hello Tori,

It could be a calcium deficiency so hopefully the calcium powder will help out a lot.  You can also put some calcium powder in a bowl also in his tank.
You can dust the feeders along with using the bowl of calcium, too.
Could he have hurt himself on something?
Do you have any pictures of him?
He wouldn't be impacted, right?
What substrate is he on?

QUESTION: Well, I've been using the calcium for about 3 days now, and his leg seems to be getting a bit better.. Which is good :) The only thing I could think of him hurting himself on would be the rock he has in his cage. I did have him on a indoor/outdoor carpet for a while but whenever he seemed to feed, his mouth would get stuck on it and he'd end up yanking until he freed himself. So maybe his leg got stuck, and he could free it for a while. Now I have him on some paper.

Answer
Hello Tori,

Wow, that is great the calcium seems to be helping already, good news!
It is possible that he yanked himself free & hurt himself.  If he wasn't getting enough calcium then his bones could be a little weak.
This supplementation should help him out.  He can have it daily for a little while until his leg is back to normal.  Then, you can just leave a dish of calcium in a dish for him & he will lick the calcium when he needs some.
The paper is just fine for liner no problem at all.  He definitely wont become impacted from the paper!

Let me know how he is doing.
