Question
i have 2, 3-4 month vield chameleons  and the both stopped eating at the same time one day and i have not SEEN them eat since but the crickets have dissapered and are on the floor of the house or are hiding under the plant. whats wrong

Answer
Hi Brad, I don't know if this is the cause but your chameleons are getting to the age where they may likely have to be separated. Veileds are one of the most anti-social species and even the females are happier housed alone with no other chameleons in sight. With males it is absolutely necessary, no getting around it.
With them both stopping feeding simultaneously you should examaine any other environemental factors that may have changed as well. Chameleons are not fond of disruption or change so if you have done anything with the enclosure or moved it that can cause a temporary drop in appetite. They are also very visual so even changes beyond their enclosure, like birds flying by outside a window, a nearby mirror, a cat wandering within view can make them nervous. Verifying your temperature is always a good idea when a reptile goes off its food.
You might try container feeding them which will allow you to get a better idea how many crickets and other insects are being eaten. Adding some variety to their diet can also spark their interest.
