Question About two months ago I found a painted turtle in my front yard. He has no beak. I guess something bit it off. It had maggotts all over it. I cleaned it several times a day and now it looks great. I was wondering if he will be able to eat meats. I have been feeding him veggies. He must be eating something or he would have dies by now. He swims in a little pool out in the yard everyday. Bugs are on the top of the water. Will he eat beatles off the top of the water? If I turn him loose will he be able to survive without his beak? Thanks for taking your time to answer me.
Thank You..
Jennifer
AnswerI would be inclined to believe that if he is foraging and eating on his own, he'd be okay if you turned him lose. However, if you want to give him a better chance you can continue feeding him well chopped veggies and introduce well chopped insects and well chopped fish meat. Best of luck with the little guy!
