QuestionHi,
We have an 16 year old gecko that we received from a friend. We have only had her about 2 months. She has developed a red, inflamed tumor like area under her tail. It seems to be bothering her. I have noticed that her appetite has not been good for the past 3-4 weeks. We did not notice the tumor??? until recently. She is not handled a whole lot, so she could have had it longer than a week. It appears infected to me. It is hard to touch, not squishy at all. I put some neosporin on it. What else can I do for it? Thank you, Sherri
AnswerHello Sherri,
WOW a 16 year old leopard gecko huh? That is really getting up there. Can you post a picture of her for me? Is it at the vent area?
Are you sure that it is not a prolapse of that area? Though you said that it is hard to the touch? It is probably a cyst then, I would assume. Can you get her to a vet for analysis?
What is your setup like, are you using an undertank heater along with a basking light for the warm end?
What is your substrate, sand, tiles, paper towels?
Continue to put neosporin on it daily. If you do have loose substrate take that out & replace it with paper towels so the area doesn't get dirty.
