Question
Afternoon -
I have a female 4+ year old Dragon ("rescued" from school)and she is healthy currently.  My question is how can I get her to eat a variety of foods, like greens.  I believe she has occasionally seen a dandilion, but won't eat greens unless we trick her.  She needs to regulate her poop and vary her diet.

I am also looking for enrichment/habitat ideas for a young African Fat-tailed Gecko.  S/He eats fine, but stays in the coconut unless forced out.  20gallon tank!
Thanks
Ailigh

Answer
Dear Ailigh,
thank you for your question.
Try mixing the greens with insects in a bowl or offering insects and greens with a feeder tong. Many dragons prefer a certain colour (mostly red and yellow), so flowers in that particular colour look attractive to them: dandelions, daisies, marigold, nasturtiums, pansies, cherry or apple blossoms. Basil is a favourite with many dragons, probably because of the strong smell and I use it to make other greens more attractive to my dragon, either cut up very small or even squashed and mixed with other food.
Since your dragon is healthy, you can let her go without insects for a weeks or so and only offer greens. She will probably eat them when she's hungry.

Can you tell me a bit more about the Fat-tailed gecko and the conditions in his tank (temperature, lighting, humidity ect.)? That will make it easier for me to suggest something.
You can find good enrichment ideas for most animals including herps on this website:

I hope I was of some help to you
