Bearded Dragon with cancer

Question
Hello. I hope that you can help. My bearded dragon had surgery about 4 months ago to remove a cancerous lump. The vet tested it and said that she was not able to get all of the cancer and that it had spread throughout his body.  A few days ago another large tumor developed on his back in close to the same area which is what the vet had told me previously would probably happen in all likelihood as it was a very aggressive cancer. My effort now is strictly on keeping him comfortable as I do not want him to suffer in anyway. He is 7 years old and was a rescue beardie.  He is still eating ok and acting normal so I am doubtful about putting him down at this point.  The vet is not very helpful as she wants to keep doing surgeries. I see this as futile because they are going to keep popping up.  I love him and if the vet hadn't already told me it was fatal I would consider a second surgery.  What I am afraid of is that if this lump gets to large it can start to push on his internal organs because their skin is not pliable.  I know you cannot give medical opinions and advice but do you think as long as he is eating and acting as normally as he always has that it is ok to continue to let him live.  Sorry this was so long and if you are not allowed to give me advice I understand. Unfortunately this vet is the only one that is works with exotics in the town near where I live so I have no option for a second opinion.  I love him and I just want to make sure he does not suffer. Thank you.

Answer
Hello Angela,

Oh I am so sorry to hear your dragon has cancer!  Did the vet say what type?  That is horrible it is spreading throughout his body.
I can give some medical advice, no problem.  The lump, as long as it is not causing him to be in pain he will last for awhile.
How you will know if he is in pain, his beard will become dark for long periods of time.  If his stools begin to change, or if you see any blood coming out then that would be renal & or liver failure.
It is quite possible that it will gradually begin to push on his organs which will unfortunately kill him.
He could last for a long time, they can hold on for long periods.
You could try using some colloidal silver, that has some good immune system boosting properties.
Can he get around very well right now?
I don't blame you for not wanting to continue doing surgeries on him, there is no need really unless it could be a lifesaving one perhaps.  Could you get a 2nd opinion, somehow?
