Question
my two geckos, and one of my healthy skinks
my two geckos, and one
QUESTION: ok well for starters i was wondering if you would be able to give me some charteristic details of giant morphs?    i have a carrot tail leapord that is gigantic, and i cant help but to be curious....

on the other hand i have been having problems with my south kenyan fire skinks, not the immitators      i had ten of these guys and 3 came down with a scale disease   i didnt get it in time and they died.

now completely unrelated and much too far apart to be the same thing ive had two more die without losing weight, having any discoloration, or related behavioural problems!!

it has me stumped but my remaining lizards are healthy and vibrant, friendly as can be and energetic during the day.

i have pictures but ill wait and see if anyone has any need for refrence before i post them.

ill attach one of my carrot tail when it was six months to see if i anyone can give me better advice than the lame pet store workers can give :D

thx a bundle!

ANSWER: Hello David,

How large is your carrot tail leopard gecko?  Where did you get him?  Is he aggressive or personable?
Does he appear to be a hybrid?
Are you housing the skink in with the geckos?

So the skinks are ill?  They came up with a scale disease?  Was it like a fungus?
Is he eating normally?  What is your setup like?
You have had 2 more die with no symptoms, other than a scale disease?
Could have been yellow fungus?  Do you have any pictures at all?

QUESTION: my carrot tail is nearly 12 inches long and very girthy, in comparison to my normal morph leapord gecko which is in the picture and is the exact same age    he easily shadows him by comparison.

no, none of my lizards are kept within the same cage.   my skinks have a need for burrowing so they have a sphagnum moss terarrium   whilst my geckos have exo terra cloth framed tanks

i tried to get a picture of them together for size comparison.

and my fire skinks that had passed ill and died became skinny in the rear hips and had white scales forming that seemed spongy in texture.... im not having that problem with any of my skinks now but thw most recently dead ones hadnt had any discharge or any abnormalities whatsoever     they seemed to just die.      i am reluctant to dig up my dead lizards now and take pictures of them.

i suppose rather than ask dumb redundant questions i will just ask if you can see from the picture wether my carrot tail looks abnormaly large for 6-7 months old?

im hoping i have a giant morph hybrid for breeding.  i could be a moron thinking someone can look at it and just tell so please inform me if so lol

ANSWER: Hello David,

I was just making sure that you did not house your skink & your geckos together.  You would be surprised how many mix species.  :-))

I did notice the size difference but did not realize it was THAT much!  Geez, what the heck have you fed him?  LOL

Oh no do not dig up your skinks to get pictures.  Where did you get your skinks?  That is odd that they just died like that.  I am sorry!  They sound as if they got some type of fungal disease which was internal & manifested externally.

You have a rather large carrot tail gecko for sure.  I did not think they even got over 10 inches in length.  So I think he is very big for a 6-7 month.  I wonder if he will grow more?  Do you know how much he weighs?

tangerine morph
tangerine morph
QUESTION: well he's a bit aggressive and dominant but only violent with other males and hasnt ever bitten me,   is somewhat ok with handling and like all my other lizards seems to tolerate sitting on my shoulder for lengths of time.

for feed i give them a variety of butterworms and mealworms, all gut loaded for a week b4 i put them in as fodder.       i was going to try and move my carrot tail over to pinky worms soon in the hopes that larger prey and environment are going to promote more growth.

i have no idea about weight but im certain length is at 11.8 inches

though i wonder since my 4 year old tangerine morph is over a foot long, why do most say they will not get that long at max growth?   do i have freak lizards lol

i put a picture of my tangerine morph laying on my chest, im an average height so these pictures arent decieving, he spans from my belly button nearly to the top of my chest plate.

Answer
Hello David,

Great that he has not bitten you though even if he is aggressive toward the other males, that is expected.  Is he ok with females?
Good the mealies & the butterworms are fine, they are very healthy.
What are pinky worms, do you mean pinky mice?
You must have gotten some great stock, because they normally don't get much over 10 inches.
Your Tangerine morph is very pretty, he looks amazing.
Are you planning on breeding?  Where did you get them, what breeder?
