Question
hi i plan to get a crested gecko soon. i have the setup but im unnclear about the temp. the thermometer that i set up in the empty tank says its usually 68 degrees in my room. i was wongering if i should bring the temp up as i know cresties dont like it hot but do need some heat.

i have an exo terra light canopy abovethe tank and was wondering too if i could use a regular house hold low wattage light bulb to bring the temp up a few degrees in the day and turn it off at night and let it drop to normal

Answer
Hi Sam,

That would be fine. You are correct, they do require a temperature in 70's F during the day, unless they are being cooled for breeding. I used a plain household 40 watt bulb for my cresteds. I would aim for a daytime temp. in the 75 - 80F range.
