Question
QUESTION: Hello Tracie, I am not able to find the gestation period of or average gestation period of a female Leopard Gecko. I have a female, very healthy and approximately 50 grams and 3 years of age. It seems like she has been gravid for a very long period of time. I am sorry to say I did not track the time period she has been gravid however I have had other geckos lay their eggs that became gravid a smaller period of time and laid their eggs. She isn't in distress and is still eating and taking calcium. can you advise me if you know of an average time period they can be gravid prior to laying their eggs. As always I appreciate your help and expertise.
Dena

ANSWER: Hello Dena,

Usually, the eggs should be laid every 3 weeks or so.  You are sure she is gravid, correct?
Do you have any pictures of her?
How much food is she taking in right now?

I hope everything is going well for you!

QUESTION: Yes she is definitely gravid. I can take pictures and send them to you via our other contact if that is ok. She is still eating but of course not as much as when she wasn't gravid and mostly meal worms (I guess because they take up less room in her tummy. It has been a little over 3 weeks and just seems like she is getting Hugh so I'm worried about her. Let me know if you want me to send pics and how you want them sent. Thanks for your help,
Dena

Answer
Hello Dena,

Yes, definitely send some pictures so I can see her round belly.  :-))
If it has been a little over 3 weeks, so if she is reducing her eating then it wont be too long until she should lay.
Is she getting enough calcium in her diet?  Does she drink enough water?

Let me know how she is doing.
