sick skink

Hello, My 5yr old gold skink has a black growth in the side of her eye. It seams that half of the growth is under the skin and half is protruding over her eye. Do you have an idea what this could be?

In other species of reptile, black defines a bruise, however, without a picture, and you mention protrusion over the eye I would strongly suggest a trip to good reptile veterinarian to rule out abcess, or tumor.  Also it being located near the eye makes it doubly not something that should be treated at home.
