Question
QUESTION: Yea, i have 2 leopard geckos, one is about 6 years old and the other is about 3 and they seem pretty happy with thier current diet, which is when i feed them at the begining of each week, but i put probably put in 2 dozen or so crikets in their cage and they eat until their full and the rest they gradulally eat over the week.  I was just wondering if this is ok and if you have any reccomendations or comments for me on their diets.

ANSWER: Hello this sounds ok but for one thing...you can dust the crickets apon putting them in but the ones left roaming around wont have the powder on them very long...also free roaming crickets chew on the geckos.

QUESTION: Ok,thanks alot, but i do usually put in a piece of lettuce for the crikets or a slice of an orange, and if i have the calci sand is that enough calcium or do i still need the dust?

Answer
Hello Calisand will acctaully kill your geckos if they lick too much of it or catch too much while eatting there dinner....the sand says its Digestable but I have heard one to many stories of peoples liazrds eatting the sand and dieing from a impaction. And since leopard geckos are one of the few that acctaully need calcium power left for them they have been noted to eat alot of sand to gain calcium and can indeed lead to there death. Leaving a peice of fruit of vegetable for the crickets helps. Yes leave a dish of calcium powder for the geckos and think about swiching beddings to paper towels or newspaper...this is about the only thing lizards arent able to grab accidently during feeding and cant lick it up like sand for calcium.
