ifound a brown snake w/ a tan stripe and a spot on its head. What is it?
Answer -
Hi...
Where do you live? This will help me identify it.
Also, how large is it? Does the stripe go all the way down the back? What color is the spot, and where exactly on the head is it? Is the stripe darker or lighter than the rest of it?

Answer
Hey Wayne
It sounds a lot like a Brown Snake. Im not sure how much the ones in Texas differ from the Florida Browns we have here, but I can tell you what I know about the ones in Florida.

I find them all the time, and they usually are not aggressive. However, they do release a must (bad smelling liquid) in defence when I hold them.

They do not get very big, and yours is actually a full grown adult. I believe they eat worms and small lizards.

I would NOT recommend keeping this snake (or any other wild snake) as a pet. Wild snakes should stay wild. If you would like a snake as a pet, I suggest you buy a corn snake. A baby corn snake is only about $20, and I would be happy to give you care advice for it.
