Hello, I recently noticed that the end of my beardies tail is turning a very light grey colour, and it looks like the outer layer of scales is gone. My husband takes care of the beardie but asked me to do some research as he is worried about her. A small tip of her tail has fallen of before, it looked the same as it does now. And also, it isn't the very tip of her tail, but very close. Any help would be appreciated! Oh and also, it is a little darker on the underside of her tail, but not a lot.

Answer
Hi Amanda,
it looks liek a bit of dry gangrene starting there.  Sometimes we are lucky and it does fall off on its own but it is best to have a vet check it out and remove any part that needs to be removed.  Many times with dry gangrene it will continue on up the tail and cause BIG problems and can also go internal causing even more problems.  You can apply some Neosporin or other antibiotic ointment to the area while waiting on a vet appointment. On the off chance it happens to just be some stuck shed, the ointment will help loosen it.
