snake scar

My snake was bitten today by what I thought was an unconsious prey rat. The bite is not deep and only broke skin, no blood. What can I do to help aid in healing and to prevent scarring? Thanks.

Hi Jeremy, If there was no blood then it doesn't sound like it penetrated the epidermis very much at all, that means you shouldn't have to worry about scarring too much. I would play it safe by dabbing some antibiotic ointment like Polysporin or Neosporin on it anyway. Injuries can sometimes prompt a shed cycle. It may take a couple cycles before the area regenerates completely and looks normal again. Wounds can sometimes interfere with the shed in that area so just keep an eye on it
