Ball Python Water

Question
My boyfriend and I love our snake Sonaria, so much so, that we want to build her a custom new and improved, much larger home.  My boyfriend has had her for 5 years and knows much more about the care and upkeep then I do.  But I have one concern with one of our plans to have the fountain and water dish with the same water supply.  I'm worried the fountain pump my eventually grow algie or other worse things.  I don't know how to effectively clean one out, to make sure this can't cause a problem. (not that we don't check the water daily!)  I just don't want unseen preventable problems to come to harm Sonaria.

Answer
Hello Casey,

I think the best thing for you to do is if you are going to do a water pump with a fountain is to get a pump with a filter on it, & just keep it clean.  So if you were planning on doing a permanent structure in there, just make sure you can clean it well.
All of the algae eliminating products had warnings on them, so I don't recommend using them.
It may not even grow much if any algae at all anyway, but always keep an eye on it though.  The running water should help to keep it from building up much algae if it does build up at all.
The name Sonaria is a nice name.

I hope that helps.
