Question
hello. first off how do you tell green anole lizard genders best? I think I have a older boy and a younger girl but should i put them together? Plus my "boy" lizard has an eye fungus/disease (so i was told by another expert?) where one of his eyes is really swollen and reddish inside so i don't want "him" to give it to "her."currently they are in separate cages. He wont eat a lot though, only a little bit of apple sauce. thanks
Julie

Answer
Male green anoles have longer heads, and two small bulges in their tale right at the base.  Fully mature males can also erect a short crest of flesh along their spine when they display.

Your male anole needs to see a vet with reptile experience, promptly.  If you cannot afford it, then give him immediately to a reptile rescue group so that he can receive veterinary treatment.  Treatment is not optional when you own a pet, it is morally and legally required.  It doesn't matter if it's $1500 macaw, a $5 anole, or a free puppy.

Applesauce isn't an appropriate food for anoles.

Definitely keep them separated.
