Gecko shedding

Question
i have a 3 yrs old gecko for about 1 year and beside an eye problem already fix, he seems fine and health. He has been to a vet twice in the past for the eye and was told he was very health. (he has or had a big fat tail). This past month we saw him shedding twice already. He was able to remove all the skin and he eats it. Is this normal? I also notice that his tail is no longer as fat. It looks like he is loosing weight. Is it normal for them to shed that much? I read that some people bathe their lizard! I have never done it. Should i be bathing him?
Thank

Answer
Eating shed is perfectly normal for geckos.  Many geckos prefer humid hides and misting over bathing, but if he is dehydrated, a bath in tepis water would be a good thing.
Losing weight is not a great sign and I would go back to the vet to find out why he is losing weight.  Three years old is still young in most species of gecko and his tail should be staying as fat as ever.
