cat and bearded dragons

Question
QUESTION: Hi there,
i found a lost homeless cat yesterday, she is about 1 year old.
Unfortunately it does not look like anyone is looking for her.
The veterinary clinic is keeping her for a few days. To give the owner a chance to find her.
Me and my husband would be very interested to adopt the cat. But we also have 2 adult bearded dragons. A male and a female.
We are scared that the cat will try to attack them .
Is there anything we could do to prevent that?
any advice would be very helpful
kind regards

ANSWER: Hello Lava,

Well, cats are predators so your fears are definitely justified.
The best way to keep the cat from attacking your dragons is to have a locking top on the tank of the dragons.  If you have them out during the same time your cat is around, you will just have to keep your cat out of the room, or train your cat to behave.
We have an older cat who shows some interest in our dragons, but, all I have to do is snap my fingers & he is gone!
So, it is possible but don't leave anything to chance.  Make sure the dragon tank is cat proof.  If the lid is not heavy enough, then get something to lock it down with so the cat cannot mess with the top & remove it somehow.
Cats are very crafty!

Let me know how it goes.

QUESTION: Hi, thanks for the help
unfortunate no one has come forward for the cat yet.
so we have decided to give it a try. we will adopt her!
and try to make them get along. if she does try to hurt my 2 lizards.
then we have found her  2 potential couples who would love to adopt her.

Answer
Hello Lava,

Oh well good luck!  Things should be fine, just never leave them unattended together in the same room.
Hopefully everything will work out fine.  Just make it to where she cannot get into the tank, & everything should be safe for them.

If you need anything, just let me know!
