green iguana coma

Question
Our 13 yr old iguana, Piggy, got stepped on. She seemed ok, then she stopped eating. The vet said to force feed her- so we tried feeding her slurry with a syringe and she started acting primal,( normally she is a free range baby that's docile and sweet) her tongue turned purple, and she went limp. We took her to the vet- he said she is in a coma, and there is nothing he can do. We brought her home, now she is limp- barely breathing-  but still alive. Can she be saved? We are keeping her warm, and she has been hydrated up until this incident. Can you help?

Answer
Hello Shonna,

Oh gosh, I am so sorry to hear of the accident with your iguana.  Piggy is a unique name.
Can you tell if her eyes are fixed & or dilated?
I would avoid feeding her though if she is unresponsive.  Do you have any pictures of her?
Could she support herself after she got stepped on & how badly was she stepped on, on her back?
Could her lungs have been damaged?
Try to keep her calm as much as possible.  You can keep her around 75-80 overnight to help.
I am unsure if at this point she can be saved, if there are any internal injuries.

Please let me know how she is doing.
