cleaning and setup of tank

Question
I have a 55 gallon aquarium that I want to set up for green anoles.  The tank had quite a bit of algae inside it plus hard water spots around the top.  Is there something I can use to help clean this tank?  Also when wanting to set up for lights should I not use a full glass hood because of blockage of uv rays?

Answer
Dear Chad,
thank you for your question.
You can use for example vinegar or lemon juice to clean the tank. If that doesn't work, you can use commercial cleaners, but make sure you rinse the tank well with hot water and let it sit for some time to make sure there are no leftovers from the cleaner.
Glass will block the UV part of light, so you cannot use a glass hood. That wouldn't be a good idea anyway because the tank must be ventilated somehow, so the hood should at least partly be made from mesh wire.
I hope I was of some help
Jennifer
