Question
QUESTION: Hello,
I have over 5 years of Experience with Breeding and Raising Bearded Dragons and have never had any issues before now My females are in a colony of 3-4 girls to a group one group of my females has suddenly all begun passing blood in thier stool but they seem perfectly healthy they are eating great very active and bright eyed, could this be hook worms? I herd they are highly contagious and can pass dragon to dragon very quickly I went ahead and wormed all dragons showing signs and all others in the facility with Panacur, what else could it be that is contagious?

ANSWER: Hello Nick,

Oh that is terrible!  Do you have separate tanks you could put them all in, temporarily?  That would really help so that it doesn't keep spreading around.
Yes, hookworms do cause blood in the stools.  Sometimes, heavy loads of coccidia can also cause blood, too.
Kidney or liver problems can cause blood in the stools, also.  I doubt however, that they would all be having organ problems at the same time unless they have been exposed to a toxin or something like that.
Have they laid any clutches lately, or are they in the process of that?  Have they had any trouble laying recently?  Do they strain when they are going to the bathroom?
Based on them being active & eating, it is most likely hookworms.  Did you dose them all properly?  Panacur should knock it out.  If it is that bad, you will most likely have to repeat another dose in a week or so, then, re-evaluate another fecal.  Then, determine if a 3rd treatment should be given to completely get rid of them.

QUESTION: Nothing in their tank that is toxic I am very careful about it, a few laid eggs the others are virgin none are gravid. They seem to strain once in a while but not a "Bad" straining motion they are hydrated well and get Calcium and multi vitamins. My vet provided the Panacur he is a reptile specialist it's dose .1CC to every 100 Grams he wants them to get Panacur three days in a row today is their second treatment I noticed they are going alot more one is passing a bit more blood not that she's being wormed which was odd.

Answer
Hello Nick,

Hm, well passing blood is usually due to hookworms, but, not always.  Did he do a fecal?
I think a fecal needs to be done, because it could be a large coccidia overload which can be very serious.
Good they are not appearing to strain while going to the bathroom.
If you want to give me your dragons' weights, I will dose it for you.  That is not the correct dosage on that.

Keep a very close eye on the one passing more blood.
