Redfoot tortoise

Question
I bought a redfoot about 3 weeks ago from a pet store.  They had it eating pellets and living on mulch.  My friend & I made an awesome redfoot home w/ the moss, a hide & a wading pool. Humidity is good & we have a heat emitor. I've been reading your website about what they should be eating.  So I started my redfoot on the diet noted on your website.  The tortoise was doing great after a few days.  He was eating all the time.  About 4-5 days ago he's just not interested in eating anymore.  He drinks plenty of water, then sleeps most of the day.  I take my redfoot outside almost everyday for about 10-20 minutes & let him walk around. He's very active when I do that.  Should I be concerned that he's not eating right now.  I've tried mixing the fruits & greens just to see if he'll eat.  Doesn't work.  I ordered the cat food & the calcium, but I haven't received it yet. What do you think? Thanks

Answer
Hi Kristi, I'm a bit confused.......my website? I don't have a website about redfoots. Was it a previous answer of mine on this site that you were reading? Anyway, I would like to help but can you go over what you are feeding him now and if you happen to know, what type of pellets was he on at the store. Redfoot appetites are strongly temperature dependent, if they are not warm enough they will just show little to no interest in food. It also affects their activity level dramatically. Cool tortoises are sleepy tortoises. That would be my first suspicion about what is going on with your redfoot. Do you know what the temperature is in the warmest part of the enclosure?
