Question
Hi I am looking after a apprx. 9-10 month old (we're not positive) bearded dragon. He is my sisters and I am watching him while she is away. He just got diagnosed yesterday with MBD. We thought that he was getting enough calicum and that his UVB light was giving him enough light, but he still got sick. I am trying to do whatever I can to make him feel better. The vet put him on liquid calcium and I have to force feed him now as he has stopped eating. He is dehydrated as well. Can you give me some ideas to make him feel better? I have researched beardies well and I was schocked to find out that he has this. Thanks for your time.

Answer
If you do not know how old the UVB source is, it probably needs changing.  UVB lights decay and even the best should be changed every 6 months.  Get him out into the natural sunshine.  You can get a Four Paws reptile leash and get him outside for a least 30 minutes to an hour a day will help a lot.  Give him lukewarm baths and let him soak for at least 20 minutes, let him drink the bathwater if he likes.
Suggest to your sister to get him a Megaray mercury vapor UVB light, this is a wonderful source of UVB, and you can get these at ReptileUV.com.  I also suggest you or your sister join Pogona@yahoogroups.com.  We can go over all the other things her dragon needs.
