Question
i am thinking about buying a couple of house geckos and i was wondering if it is okay to have them in the same terrarium with golden geckos.  also is it okay to place a Kingsnake with a Russian tort. if the lived together in the wild why is it not okay to place them in the same tank at home?

Answer
Hello Brenden,

You have to carefully consider anytime you want to put different species together.  Normally it is not a good idea due to varying husbandry conditions & different personalities, etc. Also, it is not wise to house two males together either so unless you can successfully sex even 2 geckos it is always good to house them alone until you know what sex they are.
It is never ok to house a snake & a turtle together.  :-))  Their temperature requirements are different, & their lighting needs are completely opposite.
In the wild, they really do not live together.  They may occupy the same general ecosystem, but, they can get away from each other & are not confined to the same area as they are when they are in the same tank together.

I hope this helps.
