Question
I have a Basilisk lizard and I was out for a week. I don't think my family let him have any sunlight or turned on his light while I was gone. I checked him and he has a nickel sized growth on his knee! I turned on his light and it changed color from a little darker than his green to a brown whitish color. He doesn't even seem to notice it. The longer I left him in the sun it started to like separate from his knee and i think it like popped with puss. He's very relaxed and is acting normal, I don't know if hes in pain or not. It looks bad. What do I do?

Answer
Julie,
It sounds as though your basilisk may have gotten a cut or rub on his knee. I would soak him for 30 minutes a day in a Betadine tea. You can get Betadine at Walmart in the first aid section. Fill a container with warm (not hot) water that comes up to the basilisks chest add in Betadine and stir until the water is a bright orange brown but you can still see through it, repeat this for a couple of days if he doesn't seem to be improving take him to a vet.  I hope this will help you out. Please keep me updated on how he's doing.
