Question
Hey there,
I have a ball python, And I am thinking of giving him to a good home. I would like to get a more active reptile or maybe just for a change. I have been breeding rats for food, And I was wondering if there is any other reptiles that would eat rats (I can give any size rat tiny ones of med size or whatever.) Thanks.

The tank I have is about 5' long and 2' high.

Answer
Rhianna,      I can recommend a couple reptiles that are more active than your snake. They are also going to be more aggressive. I like the savahnna monitor. Complete carnivore and insectivore. I would recommend killing its food first to keep the amount of aggressiveness down. So you can handle it. It will end up out growing your tank in a year or two but, they are beautiful. There are several types of Tegu's that are pretty and can be ok if fed dead rats and handled regularly. The problem is most of the carnivore reptiles get large the Tegu's can get up to 5 feet. Most of your others are illegal or don't eat mice or rats. Do a little research on them and Good Luck, Tina
