Lizard?

Question

Where are you? I just moved to a wooded area and just the other day something caught my eye, upon further inspection i saw it was a pretty big lizard, it allowed me to approach it and was able to take some pics of it. could you please identify it? also about 3 days later the woody area was pretty much mowed down and haven't seen it since do you think I will see it again I really think it was an awesome and beautiful lizard I had never seen one like that and I have lived here in South texas most of my life.

This looks like a Texas Spiny Lizard. And the best way to attract them is to allow a part of your property to go back to a woody area. Give them a suitable environment to supply them natural food, water, home and a place to raise young and you'll see them a lot more. Contacting National Wildlife Federation will help you recreate an attractive area for them.
