Question
QUESTION: Man it seems another issue has rose agin for me and rumble this time he isnt gaining much wait from anything ;( He eats on fridays 5 meals worms 5 wax worms.... Maybe its his UVB bulb im really trying to help spike nbut this is my first B-d Im used to Iguanas Please tell me the best UVB light for him maybe less uvb = less growth? Theres this bulb i saw for 40$ USD at petsmart called a mercury vapor all in  one UVB/UVA/Heat... maybe I should get that buts its a 125w and rumbles tank is 10 gal atm, cause my iguans needed his or her to lay her eggs in but anyway please help I have a strong feeling its the uvb.

ANSWER: Hello Justin,

Before you purchase the MVB at the Petsmart, please tell me WHICH brand it is, ok?  There are some that are not very good.
However, you can't use a MVB for a tank that is smaller than a 40 gallon tank as it is too strong for such a small tank.  I would go ahead & purchase the Reptisun 10 tube bulb.  I sent you a link to where you can purchase it on the other mail.
Is your Iguana receiving UVB light & calcium?  If not, she might begin to have trouble with laying her eggs, & become eggbound.

As for the feeding of your bearded dragon, I would cut back on the meal worms & the waxworms, because they are too fatty & can cause impaction especially eating the meal worms.  Better choices are small crickets, & phoenix worms.

QUESTION: Traice your porbly like this guy ! Hahah, well I went to petsmart and I got a : http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4005372

125w one people say it gives off 8.8-10.0 UVB mersures or whatever I think its a good bulb for 40$ it will work for now I will Most likely change it every 3 monuths or so Just to be sure !

ANSWER: Hello Justin,

You are considering this light for your bearded dragon, right?
Overall, it is a safe bulb.  They are very inconsistent with their quality.  We have used a couple this year, but had to go back to our old Megarays for awhile.  The bulbs we had, the 125 watt Solar Glo only put out 25-32uW/cm2 of UVB which for a MVB is very poor.  So, really, it is like they are in the shade & not very intense.
However, a friend of mine in Canada bought one a month or so ago, & it was putting out around 105uW/cm2.
So, it is up to you since it is the luck of the draw right now.  If you don't have a meter, I would be happy to test it for you.

QUESTION: Well, idk how you can test it but today it seems to be working he very active running in the tank looks like he has a smile he did take a nap in the shade but  he seems to be coming around I belave his weight loss was due to the other UVB bulb and That is the 1st stage of MBD people have said so I cured that but in 2-4 weeks I will soon find out indeed if this bulb is working and he has gained his weight back for now Im powdering his food 6-7days aweek will CAlcium power and im Using the Multi Vitamen 2 times a week.

Answer
Hello Justin,

Well, hopefully his calcium levels have gotten a little bit better.  Are you powdering his food just once daily?  Be careful not to overdo it on the powdered calcium, as that can cause some problems such as constipation if they get too much.  Try giving it just 5 times per week, once daily.  That should be sufficient.
The multivitamin is fine, at 2 times per week.
That is great he has gained his weight back now, he must be feeling better.
Well, maybe you got lucky & got a decent bulb.  You already have the Solar Glo then?  I meant that I could test your light, but, you would have to send it to me through the mail.  :-))
I hope he is doing better soon.
