Chamelions and boric acid

Question
I live in Florida and I am trying to lessen some garden pests and want to use boric acid. Will this cause a problem to the chameleons in my garden? I don't want to hurt them.
Thank you.

Answer
Boric acid has been used in southern California to keep introduced Argentinian ants away from captive reptiles. I would say that as long as the chameleons aren't eating mass numbers of the pests, and they aren't wandering around in the boric acid that it would be okay. If they are free in the garden, I would be very wary of using any type of pest control without talking to a vet. Thanks! Nicole
