Question
QUESTION: i bought a male bahama anole lizard and have had him for about a month. Yesterday i noticed his butt area looked swollen and he was not using his back legs. he is still moving but only using his upper body. I am not sure what is wrong or what i should do ?

ANSWER: Hello Stacy,

Can you post a picture of that for me, if possible?
Are you keeping him on sand?  If so, take that out & replace it with paper towels or non adhesive shelf liner.  He is probably going to be impacted with the sand.
Is he eating anything at all?
Are you supplying UVB lighting for him as well as calcium supplementation on a regular basis?
What type & brand of UVB light are you using, is it a flourescent tube bulb or a compact or coil light?
How large of prey are you feeding him?

QUESTION: I would need an email address to send a pic i cannot figure out how to paste the pic in this little box. I do use a uvb light bought from petco for lizards and as for calcium supplements what do you mean ?

Answer
Hello Stacy,

My home email is:
Drache613@cfl.rr.com

What type & brand of UVB light is it?  Is it a flourescent tube light or a compact or coil light?  There are alot of bad ones so I just want to make sure he is under a good light.
Calcium supplementation will be needed for him also, at least a few times per week.  There is calcium powder that you can buy to dust his feeders with, once a day, several times a week to help maintain his bones.
