QUESTION: I have a blue chubby tree frog that I keep in a habitat that has runing water and live plants i added two plants a few days ago to the habitat i notice that my frog can not use his back legs I was woundering if this might have something to do with the plants or something els all together I have been feeding him crickets. I havent been adding any thing to them could that be the problem i have to uvb lights on him I was told they did not need them. thanks for your time

ANSWER: Hello Will,

No, they really don't need any UVB lighting.  Which ones are you using?
Are you providing supplementation for him like calcium?  What are you feeding him?
How large of crickets are you feeding him, it is possible that they might have been large & he could be impacted.  How big is your frog?
What are the temperatures & humidity in the tank?

QUESTION: I havent been supplementing the crickets. The crickets have all been sized apoperatly so I dont think hes impacted by them. He is about 2 inches nose to butt. the temps are around 75 and 85 ferenhit I havent tested the humidity but there is a water fall in the tank. He tries to move around but cant really do much because hes hind legs dont work.

Answer
Hello Will,

Ok, he probably is having some calcium issues.  You will need to dust his crickets with calcium, daily for awhile to make sure he is getting enough calcium for his bones.
If you have a waterfall in his tank, the humidity should be adequate for him, no problem.  The temperatures might be a little high at 85 so I would try to bring down the temps just a little bit if possible.  He can get overheated pretty easily.
Can you post a picture of him?
