Question
Hi im Deon

Sometimes when i put my BD in the sun for about 20 min and wanting to pick him up he opens his mouth and looks at me (like he;s warning me), then when i try to pick him up he runs away and when i get him in my hand he bites me! Whats going on? Does he hate me or what maybe out of fear?

Thank you

Deon

Answer
Is this only when he's in the sun?  If so, then he's just reacting to the sun's UVB.  It's far more intense than his indoor UVB and it's an energy booster.  Makes him feel his oats.  Usually that is why I use a leash until mine get used to being outside everyday.  I even have a girl who has panic attacks in the sun.  She must stay cuddled or she goes off her rocker!  In the sun he may also react to the way you pick him up, because outside he will be more wary of predators that would come at him from above.  So, yes, fesr msy be a strng factor.  I would try taking him out on a leash but leave him on your shoulder or chest.  Take him for a car ride and let him look out the window.  then only have him out for shorter periods, always on your lap, be aware of birds and planes and make like you are his shelter and protector.  He may get used to being outside after a while.  But there is a chance he may be like my panicky girl and will always react badly outdoors.
