Question
I brought home a beautiful, loving Dragon shortly before Christmas. He is about 4 3/4" STV and 15" overall. I was uneducated and unprepared. I cannot afford a properly sized glass terrarium. I cannot get him to eat anything but crickets. I've tried live pinkies, thawed pinkies, goldfish, guppies, canned mealworms, romaine, carrot slivers, apple, pear...
I need to know how to encourage him to eat better,
an inexpensive way to get him into a large enclosure,
and a suggestion for raising the humidity besides spraying every couple hours. I know this is alot.... Thank you so much.

Answer
borrow money get a big tank now try a 33 or 55 gallon fish tank for now and get awire cover for the top, make a wooden water tight cage later on with a wire or glass front... chekc the web for building detaisl on such cages. Crickets is fine its a good diet, water dragons do not get veggies and normaly are better without meal or super worms as they can be hard ot digest, thou a few now and then are ok, you can also try wax worms i havent met a lizard yet that wont eat these, butter worms are ok once in a while also they are high in fat like wwax womrs and shouldnt be given weekly. silk worms are the best next to crickets try some of those, dust the crickets daily with muli vitamins or calcium...vary it. once hes older only dust once or twice a week. place a large cotnainer of water in the cage a shoe box sized rubbermaid container works great make sure you place clean rocks or branches in it oso the lizard can get out of the container easily. spray twice daily.
