Question
QUESTION: what does it mean when my anole sleeps during the day because during the day i check up on her daily to see how shes doing and she is always a sleep and she is brown most of the time but the only time she is green or blue is when me and her other owner holds her and pets her i need to know should i take her to the veternarian or help her?

ANSWER: Hi Erica-what is your set-up like for Lucy and what are you feeding her?
Is she eating well?

How long have you had her?

I have not kept anoles but it sounds like she is warming up when she is being held(by the temperature of your hand) and I am wondering if her tank/enclosure is not warm enough for her

This is just a guess on my part because i really don't have any info to work with and also i am not a vet

Do you have a thermostat in her tank and what does it read?
What type of light is on her tank?

Her behavior does not sound normal for a diurnal lizard and she may be ill
I would consult a vet to see what the problem might be

I am sorry that I could not be of more help

Good Luck with her

QUESTION: well she is eating well but she has been brown and my little sister ript off the end of her tail will it grow back

ANSWER: I have never kept these cute little lizards but if Lucy has had an injury she is most likely stressing and her color is dark because of that
She will conserve her energy to heal and re-grown her tail

As long as she is eating and pooping normally-just let her be(try and not handle her much) and keep an eye on her to make sure that her tail is healing without any infection

I do not see a need to use an antibiotic ointment on a dropped tail wound as this is a natural defense for them and she should heal OK on her own

She will re-grown her tail but it may not be as long as the original or look the same

If she stops eating or has any other problems-I would suggest calling a vet

Good Luck with her

QUESTION: ok but if she does get infected how could i tell she is infected

Answer
If the wound were to get infected

The end of her tail will look swollen and possibly have pus as in any other animal with an infected wound

Most of the time if they are kept on paper towels or a similar substrate that has nothing that can get into the wound-they will heal rather quickly on their own with no complications

Hope this helps and good luck with Lucy
