Question
My fire belly had a gleatinous substance hanging out of its mouth kind of star shaped with white "balls" at the points. It went under water and sucked it back into its mouth. what is it & what is it doing?

Answer
Hi Chrissy, I'm assuming that you meant Fire belly toad as opposed to tree frog. Well, it was not his tongue because fire bellies cannot stick their tongue out of their mouths the way other frogs can.
Don't panic, but it was probably his stomach. Frogs can evert their stomachs out of their mouths if they have eaten something unsuitable. They will usually wipe the  inside-out stomach with their front feet and then re-swallow it.
