Question
QUESTION: hello
We  got george only 4 days ago and he's been pretty active until today. he's been sitting on a vine with his eyes closed. I was wondering if he's doin this because of the recent move or if he's too hot or dehydrated or if he's really ill. he hasnt eaten a lot since we had him. about 8 crickets in total. ive misted him lots since i found him an hour ago and turned off his basking light. Do you think i could do anything else?

ANSWER: Personally, I would think its partly to do with coming to a new home stressor.  What temperature is the basking spot?  What is the ambient temperature?  Typically new pets when speaking of reptiles might not eat a lot when first brought home so that's not a concern so to speak.  If he continues with the same behavior it might be that there is an issue with lighting or heating.  Does he have UVB exposure as well?  How much and how often?  Answer the questions that I have placed here and I would be able to help further.

QUESTION: Thanks for replying so quickly but george passed away overnight. his tank was between 85 an 90 and he had a uv light on throughout the day with his basking light. his tank was 3ft tall an 2ft wide so i dont know what we did wrong. Might he have been ill before we got him? i also tried giving him water at the side of his mouth but he seemed to weak to drink it.

Answer
I apologize for the delay in answering the email got buried among others.  Anyway, I would definitely say there was something wrong prior to you bringing him home and would actually talk to the pet store as there should have been at least a 30 Day guarantee or something.  Let me know what occurs as I am highly interested.  Feel free to contact me via personal email from my website.
