Beardie fighting

Question
I recently just purchased two Beardies (and am new to reptiles in general) and have had them for about a week now. They are similar in size (about 12" with tail) The pet store said they were aprox 1yo each. I had them out today and was letting them wander around my room (i let them out at least once a day, as i am still waiting on my larger tank to come in, they are in a 20G long tank at the moment) One (Joe) was wandering around exploring the room. The other (Nina) was just lying on the floor not really doing much. This wasn't unusual as one of them usually is active when i let them out and the other usually just lazes around, its fairly even split as to which does which, so i wasn't worried. when Joe (the wondering one) got about 3-4 feet away Nina (the lazing one) would sprint over to him and lick him (again them licking each other is pretty common place and i thought nothing of it, they have even come to licking me when i handle them) but when he got away again she ran over and started biting his snout. I do not know if this is just playfulness, a contest for domination (when they were at the pet store there was a rather large Beardie in the tank with them, and i assume it would have held dominance at about 2 1/2yo), or if they were just fighting. I didn't think they would be actually fighting as they have been together for some time, and both have all toes and tips of tails etc. I also do not know the sex of either animal. One (Nina) has more pronounced coloring, and the other is just darker over all. aside from this incident they have seemed very healthy and alert. they seem to enjoy watching me move around the apartment and will almost always respond when i get close to their tank. Thanks you in advance for your help.

Answer
Hello Tyler,

Well, unfortunately, I recommend housing bearded dragons separately.  There is a chance that there could be a horrible accident.  Also, if you have a male & a female, they are going to breed too young, & they could even be related which would not be good as inbreeding would occur.
The licking behavior "could" be premating behavior, or it could be 2 males trying to dominate each other which will turn into a disaster real soon since they are hitting maturity.
We need to figure out the sex of each of them, so if you could try to send some pictures of their ventral/belly area around the thigh region, that would be helpful.
Sometimes you can house females successfully, but not always.  You can never or should never house 2 males together, & it really isn't recommended to house a male & female together most of the times because of over breeding.

When will your larger tank be in?  You may need to put in a divider to permanently separate them, so be prepared to figure that possibility into the equation.

How is Joe's snout doing, did Nina break the skin or are there any puncture wounds apparent?
