Question
QUESTION: ok but whats the difference between the under tank heater and the heated rock dont they do the same thing?and what size tank would you suggest? i have a ten-gallon tank is that big enough?and what should i have in the tank like a climbing stick or what?and i think nomad isnt coming back havent seen him in a while i hope hes ok :( i miss him alot :(

ANSWER: Hello Olivia,

An undertank heater is a little less hot & doesn't have a reputation for malfunctioning.  They do not get near as hot as the heat rocks.  However, bearded dragons really do not need belly heating & do much better with overhead heating instead.
A 10 gallon tank is not really large enough, no.  If you have 2 babies, you need minimal 20 gallon.  They will quickly outgrow that & you will need at least a 75 gallon per adult.  Remember if you do get 2 babies, they are most likely from the same clutch.  You cannot house a male & female, or two males.  Sometimes, you can house two females, but, it is not totally guaranteed they will get along.
You should get a basking log & a couple of large rocks for them to climb on.  Use paper towels, or non adhesive shelf liner for the substrate.
I am sure Nomad is around somewhere.  Maybe you will see him again.

QUESTION: ok but the store said i should use sand and i should have a few rocks the heating lamp and since im only getting one lizard so they said i should get a ten gallon then soon give him/her a twenty gallon.they also said i should give him or her a big bowl to soak in or to drink.

ANSWER: Hello Olivia,

No, sand, especially the type that the pet stores sell is dangerous.  They sell calcium based sand which clumps up like cement when it gets wet & it will cause fatal impactions if ingested.  Please do not buy sand for your baby bearded dragon.
If you provide a water bowl for her, put it on the cooler end of the tank so it doesn't raise the humidity too much.  Also, you will want to take it out at night in order to prevent him or her from drowning accidentally.
A 10 gallon will be ok for only a few weeks.  They are very hard to maintain the proper temperature gradients in.  A 20 gallon is ok, but you are going to end up with a million tanks.  I would recommend getting a 20 or 30 gallon to start out.  Then, at around 6-8 months of age, upgrade to his adult tank of at least a 75+ gallon tank.
I would recommend the Reptisun 10 flourescent tube bulb, but NO compact or coil lights at all.  Avoid the Reptiglo 10 flourescent tube bulbs as well, the ESU/Zilla lights & the All Living Things UVB lights as well.

QUESTION: wel i wasnt geting from the pet store i was getting playground sand it doesnt clump and its like 1.50 for 20 lbs.the pet store charges like 17.50 for 1 lbs.isnt that outrageous!!!but you also have to think THEY clean the tank every few hours or so.so they have no time to clump.im sopposed to tank her out during the day to get a bit of sunlight right?that what the clerk said to do,she breeds bearded dragons.

Answer
Hello Olivia,

Holy cow that is expensive.  They rip people off so bad!  The washed & sifted playsand is fine.
You can take her out of her tank a few times per day yes.  Since you are getting a baby dragon, I wouldn't recommend taking him outside quite yet.  They are really skitzy at that age, & I would hate for you to lose him.  I would wait until he is at least 4-6 months old, then start taking him outside on a leash.
You always have to be on the lookout for large birds of prey!
