Question
QUESTION: Hi i've asked you a lot of questions because you give me the best answer and my leopard gecko is having a shedding problem it happens every time he sheds and i don't know why.So here is the problem, whenever my gecko sheds he refuses to take it off himself and we have to bathe him and pull the skin off for him. It's beginning to make me think there is something wrong with his habitat that isn't allowing him to take off his shed.I was also thinking i should take him to a vet but it cost $50 just for a check up and if nothing is wrong with him and it's just his habitat i think i should just fix the problem and save my money for when he needs his check up.So could you tell me why he is doing this? Please help me and my gecko.  :)

ANSWER: Hello Liv,

Please remind me of your setup again, thanks.  :-))
Does he have a moist humid hide that he has access to anytime that he needs?
Which vitamins are you giving him?  It could be a vitamin deficiency, if he is continually having problems shedding.
How dry is the tank environment?  Do you know what the overall humidity is?  Try increasing the humidity in the tank if you can.

QUESTION: he has a whole mini tree a tree branch a kidney shaped water dish a moss hide out but ineed to buy new moss and get it wet a light over the top of the cage.He eats ReptoLife plus for vitamins its a powder u put on food im supposed to give it to him twice a week but we moved his cage into a different room and the powder is really messy so i've been slacking and i guess that could be the problem.the humidity average when i have his light on is 45 degrees and when it's off it's 60 degrees.he also has an under tank heater. How would i increase the humidity.

ANSWER: Hello Liv,

Your setup sounds pretty good though.
The undertank heater is really good, so having that along with his basking light should be fine.

The powder can get messy but he does need calcium & vitamins though so a deficiency could affect him a little bit.  He could be calcium deficient possibly which might cause some problems with shedding.
The moss should be dampened daily to help it retain moisture in his cave.
The humidity in his cave is 45% with the light on & 60% when the light is out?

How is he doing today?

QUESTION: He is doing good i still need to get the skin off his arms and legs.I noticed that when he doesn't have any skin on and when he does have skin on he stutters.Like when he is about to walk, his legs kind of shake before he puts his leg down. When i first got him he was running around but now he doesn't run or hardly even move.     :(  He's not even a year old :(
Why do you think he's doing that?

Answer
Hello Liv,

Well, if he is not very active & has a little bit of shakiness to his legs, that is probably related to a slight calcium problem.  Since they don't require much UVB lighting, if any, they do need consistent calcium supplementation to maintain strong healthy bones.
I hope you are able to get that skin off of the arms & legs pretty easily.

Keep me posted on him.
